This is the first oil painting I made in 1958. At that time, I could not paint trees. So, after loosing it for many years in my house, I found it and after 60 years, repainted the back ground to not include any trees. But I left the mountain lion just the way it was. So, this is never supposed to be done- but the lion is in oil and the new background is in acrylic. Before starting the change, I wiped down the background with turpentine. The background is now a view of “Islands in the sky” part of Canyonlands in Utah. I have also painted another picture of “Islands in the sky” because it is a fascinating place.
