What is the Idea behind this project?
The challenge of providing Catholic education to our youth is no doubt always present in our days.
Our schools are few, (we assume that our readers do not consider as Catholic the schools which, although boasting the title, teach modernist, liberal, and immoral doctrines, such as are many today in America and elsewhere) understaffed, and struggling with a lack of budget, but most importantly time.
It is beautiful however to witness how even in these times of difficulties the goodwill, desire and drive to promote Catholic education and to sacrifice for this goal, makes it self present and felt, especially in religious vocations throughout the Congregations we support and others.
Many parents have opted for the option of Home Schooling, which seems in some cases like the only way to preserve children from a poor and even perverse education in other places; but when they face this chore for the first time, it seems like running into a stone wall; immediately the question comes: “Where do I begin?”
Lack of material, lack of time, and if one adds to that the multiple occupations of a household or daily job… homeschooling becomes impossible, or at least, one runs the risk of delivering only a mediocre education to one’s child.
The Project of “The Catholic School” aims at facilitating this process to our Catholic Parents who are homeschooling and to Sisters and Educators who might be engaging in these works in the future. It will require a bit of extra work today, but it will greatly assist the generations to come, to improve and make more efficient their work in Home-schooling, and at the Catholic institutions.
The First Section of The Catholic School – The Education Materials Database
On the home page of “The Catholic School,” you will find our first step in this project. It consists in creating a database of books used for Catholic schooling. Users may submit a book, using the form at the bottom of the page, and slowly but surely we hope to create a database not only of books but also of answer keys, workbooks, etc.
This section is meant to function even for Schools in Germany, Mexico, France, etc. Hence you may submit a book, making sure you specify the language used.
Different Programs
Since the purpose is to create full programs of education, for Grades 1 through 12; every submission should be related to a particular Home-schooling program. If you are interested in creating your own, please contact us through our submission form, and we will add the option in the submission form so you can select your own program and update books.
It’s a long and laborious task. But we might help the future generations greatly, in the beautiful task of raising Catholic generations!
For the Greater Glory of God!
